Becoming a short break provider

Services for children and young people with SEND

What are short breaks?

Short Breaks enable children and young people with additional needs and/or disabilities to take part in fun, exciting activities and give parents / carers and their families a break from their caring responsibilities. In Suffolk we believe the short breaks should also support families to do things together.

The short breaks may take place after school, at weekends (including overnight), in the school holidays, and can include any kind of activity or tailored befriending support. Short breaks are available to all children and young people and young adults with additional needs and/or disabilities, up to their 25th birthday.

We would love to hear from you if you’re a provider of activities and short breaks that are, or could be made, accessible to children and young people with disabilities or additional needs.

We want to be able to provide as wide a range of activities as possible and the Activities Unlimited team are on hand to provide advice and guidance if you’re looking to offer services to disabled children and young people.

The AU team is on hand to offer support in promotion / marketing, signpost to training, business development or help with funding applications etc.

If you have any questions or would like to talk to a member of the AU team to advertise activities with us, please email auprovision@suffolk.gov.uk.
