Over the last two years, we have seen a significant increase in spending on food, takeaways and grocery shopping. This is not something we can continue, so we have made the decision to block payments for takeaways, food delivery apps, restaurants and grocery shops.
Activities Unlimited offers a unique Short Breaks service compared to other local authorities, as it allows a flexible approach to how personal budgets are used. However, there are government guidelines we must follow to show that public funding is being spent appropriately.
This decision has been made to ensure that AU funding is used in line with the purpose of a Short Break. This allows parent carers to have a break from their caring role by giving children and young people opportunities to take part in meaningful activities, develop skills and enjoy experiences outside of their usual daily routine.
We will continue to support families to make the most of their AU budgets in ways that provide positive and enriching experiences. There are lots of activities available for children and their families to attend. We understand the day-to-day pressures on families alongside the cost of living. If you are struggling with the cost of living, please consider the support and advice available at: Suffolk InfoLink | Cost of living support in Suffolk
Thank you for your understanding and for helping us ensure that AU funding continues to support Short Break opportunities.
